About the Scholarship and Training Unit

 

The Scholarships and Training Unit was established as part of the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research to care for scholarship and training; and serve scholarship holders and trainees of the college inside the Kingdom and abroad.

The unit works to facilitate and follow up the scholarship of Teaching Assistants and lecturers in local and international universities of academic renown so that they win certificates, gain knowledge and experience; and develop their pedagogic and research skills.

 Introduction

 

Scholarship is an important mean of developing education in different countries around the world. It has a considerable impact on scholarship holders as they join great universities and work to gain and develop quality in higher education; and pass on different expertise, knowledge and technologies from developed countries.

The Kingdom has endeavored to support scholarships; and benefit from the outcomes in the 

the tremendous development witnessed by the Kingdom in all fields, and to achieve the Saudi 2030 vision; by rehabilitating citizens and enable them to be educated in the top universities around the world.

Building scientific cadres qualified for the educational process and develop their skills and work to facilitate the procedures for scholarships to the universities of world -renowned academics and research.

Mission

 

Following-up the status of scholarship faculty members through the annual reports and providing the necessary information for the departments to build a strategic plan in line with the strategic plan of the university and the adaptation of faculty members, lecturers and new teaching assistants to the educational process.

Objectives

 

  1. To follow-up, everything related to the faculty members who are studying abroad and inside the Kingdom.

  2. To recommend what the unit considers appropriate in the light of the annual scholarship plan.

  3. To propose the general policy for scholarship and training after the coordination with the different departments of the college.

  4. To propose the plan for the scholarship and training of the faculty members after the coordination with the relevant authorities in the college and presenting them to the faculty council for the necessary action.

  5. To recommend the extension or termination of scholarships or training based on the suggestion of departmental councils and based on reports from external supervisors and cultural attaches.

  6. To propose the plan to train faculty members, lecturers and new teaching assistants to prepare them for the educational process in coordination with the Deanship of Quality and Development.

  7. To prepare a detailed annual report on the status of scholarships at the department level and submit it to the College Council for consideration and action.

Responsibilities

 

  1. Contacting departments to provide:

    1. A list of faculty members studying abroad and inside the Kingdom.

    2. Reports from external supervisors of scholarship faculty members.

    3. Scholarship faculty members’ files.

    4. The specializations needed in the departments.

  2. To fulfill department requirements and support lecturers and teaching assistants to obtain academic acceptance in distinguished universities.

  3. To arrange workshops to educate lecturers before scholarship in coordination with the Deanship of Quality and Development.

  4. To propose the college strategic plan for scholarship and training in the light of the strategic plan of the university and college specializations requirements.

  5. To make a list of distinguished universities in the light of the specializations needed in the departments.

  6. To coordinate with the college departments to follow-up the status of faculty members scholarships; regarding:

    1. the extension or the termination of scholarships; and any other actions.

    2. their academic progress by examining the reports made by the external supervisors and cultural attachés; which are sent to the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.

  7. Prepare a detailed annual report regarding the status of scholarship and training at the college and departments; and submit it to the Vice Dean of Educational Affairs in the college.

The Operational Plan

    1. To Set up the scholarship committee for the college.

    2. To contact departments to identify the specializations needed in each department.

    3. To prepare training courses and workshops for faculty members to educate them with basic knowledge they need in the stages before and after scholarship; and welcome faculty members -lecturers and teaching assistants- who have recently came back; and prepare them for their academic duties in coordination with the Deanship of Quality and Development.

    4. To make a monthly report about the scholarship faculty members; and submit it to the Vice Dean of Educational Affairs in the college.
